Sergei Kondrashev is a brilliant representative of a young generation of conductors. He was born in Moscow and graduated from the Moscow State Conservatoire named after P. I. Tchaikovsky majoring in choral conducting (class of Professor Victor Goriunov) and in opera and symphonic conducting (classes of Professors Mark Ermler and Gennady Rozhdestvensky).
Sergei Kondrashev began his career as a conductor during the student years. In 2000 he was invited as a Conductor to the Chuvash State Opera and Ballet Theatre, and also as a Musical Director and a Principal Conductor of the Chuvash State Chamber Orchestra. In 2001 Sergei Kondrashev was admitted by competitive examination to the Bolshoi Theatre as an assistant of Mark Ermler and Gennady Rozhdestvensky. Since 2003 Sergei Kondrashev cooperates with the Moscow Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra as the Principal Guest Conductor. In 2004 maestro worked with National Symphony Orchestra of Russia (Artistic Director and Principal Conductor – Vladimir Spivakov), Russian National Orchestra (Artistic Director – Mikhail Pletnev).
From 2005 to 2009 Sergei Kondrashev worked as a conductor of the Moscow City Symphony Orchestra “Russian Philharmonic”. He was invited by famous musicians to participate in their programs: for instance, by great singer Galina Vishnevskaya (the First International Opera Singers Competition of Galina Vishnevskaya), pianist Yury Rozum (International Festival “When Stars Light”). Sergei Kondrashev takes part in two unique projects: “Tenors of the 21st century”, “Basses of the 21st century”, and in annual festivals of contemporary music “Moscow Autumn”.
Since 2011 Sergei Kondrashev is a Principal Conductor and Artistic Director of the “Orpheus” Radio Symphony Orchestra (Moscow).
Over many years he has cooperated with the Kremlin Ballet based in State Kremlin Palace (2010–2012, 2015–the present time).
Sergei Kondrashev has a busy concert schedule; he gives concerts in many Russian cities and abroad. Conductor toured the USA, China, Germany with triumph.
Sergei Kondrashev worked with such world famous soloists as Denis Matsuev, Maria Gulegina, David Geringas, Makvala Kasrashvili, Vladimir Ovchinnikov, Elena Zaremba Vladislav Pyavko an others.
Maestro’s repertoire includes various music genres: from operas, ballets and symphonies to chamber compositions. He successfully performs the works of classical repertoire: operas by Verdi (Rigoletto, Traviata), ballets by Tchaikovsky, piano concertos by Rachmaninov, Beethoven, Chopin, Tchaikovsky, symphonic compositions by Rimsky-Korsakov and Prokofiev, as well as music by modern composers.
